About Our Ranch and Cattle

Indreland Angus originated in 1976. Our base genetics consisted of Marshall 4, Juanada Lad of RR 22, Viking 975 GDAR, PJM Powerpoint and Keyban of FV. We later acquired a few cows that carried a strong Wye influence.  These groups of cows became the cornerstones that we have built upon. We do practice line breeding and strive to produce as many ½ and ¾ blood calves as possible.

 We constantly try to provide the best in customer service and believe it is our obligation to challenge our cowherd so that we can evaluate our genetics, therefore providing a high degree of confidence in the abilities of our cattle to perform to the standards of our customers.

 Our production philosophy is that cows must consistently excel at converting our basic grass resource into beef.  Practicing this philosophy has refined our cows into trouble free and productive cattle.  We do not select for any extremes but demand functionality in our cattle. 

We also sell 40–50 two-year-old bulls annually.  Dec 19, 2009 marks the opening day of our private treaty bull sale this year. Contact us if you would like to receive a catalog.

 In 2003, we began marketing our beef directly to consumers under the label, Indreland Ranch Angus Beef.  We offer Choice, Dry Aged, Natural Angus beef that is source and age verified.  Each package has a product ID (eartag/tattoo) that ties it to records in every phase of production.  We regularly travel to area Farmer’s Markets and deliver to five grocery stores, two restaurants, and one hospital. 

While the natural beef niche market may not be the way to feed the world, our sustainable production philosophy lends itself well to the natural branded beef program.

Through our beef program, we have actual carcass data on well over 100 head from our herd with 84% grading at least Choice and an average YG of 3.04. All this is accomplished on our ranch with a modest ration of long hay and whole corn.
